Benjamin Hankins Waide October 2, 1981-June 16, 2025
On June 16,2025, Benjamin Hankins Waide joined his grandparents, and his sister, Nancy, in Heaven. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Riley Seibert (David) and Hank Waide (Kelly), his siblings, John and Emily (Josh), and his cherished niece, Nancy Waide.
Ben was born in Opelika, Alabama. He later returned to Auburn, pursuing a degree in Turfgrass Management. Ben combined one of his greatest passions with his career, becoming a golf course superintendent. He loved the work he did, but even more, he loved the people he worked alongside. He never referred to people working for him, they were his friends, and they worked with him.
There was nothing that Ben tried that he didn't master, guitar, drawing, leather work, collecting artifacts. He was a "Whisperer" of sorts, calming horses, dogs, even little Nancy as a baby. His intelligence and creativity never leant him to boredom. He was always busy, even as a child. A "time-out" in his room once ended with him making a handwoven basket from the pages of the "B" encyclopedia.
Ben's kindness, generosity and quiet brilliance will be missed beyond words. He is now free.
"He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters, He delivered me, the Lord was my stay, He brought me forth also into a large place, He delivered me, because He delighted in me, Psalm 18
A service to celebrate Ben's life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Athens, AL. Visitation will begin at 1:00, followed by a service at 2:00
Burial will take place immediately following the service at the home of Riley and David, 140 Alsup Road, Prospect, TN
