Steve Blankenship - Spry Funeral Home

Steve Blankenship age 69 of Athens Alabama passed away Thursday June 19th at Huntsville Hospital...Steve was a long time employee of the city of Athens doing a little bit of this and that, from driving the garbage truck when he first started in 1985 to cutting grass around town with that big ole John deere he hated ,to driving the boom truck picking up junk..ill never not pass a boom truck again and not tear up ..but  along this journey he made many friends there  that became same as family .Speaking of Junk,my daddy was your modern day Fred Sanford always picking up something to make an extra dollar..Steve was a hard working man no matter what he was doing or how big or small the job was, but if you called him and  needed help he'd drop everything to come help you..thats who he was !! Steve is survived by his 3 kids with paws who he loved dearly Shortie, Louie and  Skeeter.. daughter Shana Johnson husband Chip,2 neices Cindy Jamieson husband Bill,and Gerrie Colbourne..many cousins  neices and nephews .He is preceded in death by his parents Pete and Bonnie Blankenship, a sister Geraldine Miller and husband Sunny,and an Amazing Dear friend who he  absolutely adored Annalice Deemer, !! Steve will dearly be missed everyday by so many that loved and knew him , but now he can Rest in Heaven in a new healthy body!! See you when I get there daddy ..I love you ..

Visitation will be held from 5- 8 PM Monday at Spry Funeral Home.
