Dear Renee, Haley, Hannah, Hope, Wilma & Craig,
We were shocked when we heard the news about David's passing. But we know that God makes no mistakes and His timing is perfect. We are so grateful to God for allowing our paths to not only cross but to intersect at Heritage Baptist Church. David sowed so many seeds of the Gospel and so much of himself into the lives of our boys. We know he would be proud of Kyle (Children's Pastor at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC & Tyler (who is now our pastor at Forest Baptist Church, Forest, VA). David gave us both so much joy working together with him at H.B.C. that our lives were enriched tremendously. Our family and S.S. Class are in continuing prayer for each of you. Please know that we love you all very much and thank God for you daily. Our deep love in Christ Jesus our Lord.

David was an incredible man of God that left a lasting spiritual legacy in the life of so many. David was my first ever children’s pastor back in the day at Heritage Baptist in Huntsville. Remarkable Kingdom impact, and a remarkable man of God!

I love you guys so much! I’m so thankful to have known him and to have had him in my life. What a privilege it was to spend time with him. The opportunity I had to serve on our mission trip last summer was hands down one of the best times I had with him.

David was born to touch lives both young and old, especially the lives of all the children he met. Even his smallest, but always sincere actions made miracles happen. David had a deep love of God in his heart as was shown with each of his gentle smiles. May God grant grace and wrap His arms of comfort arround my friend's family at this time.

I have always been encouraged by David as a children's choir teacher. He was funny and so talented. His love for God, his family and life just shined in all he did. I love you all dearly and will continue to pray each day for you!

Dear Rena and girls our hearts are torn because of Bro. David’s sudden departure. Our Lord must have needed him there or He saw something in David’s future that would be hard on him and you folks, down here. I wish there was something I could say or do that would help you folks work through your grief. David taught me a lot and his help will never be forgotten. You and the girls have been the center of most conversations around here. We watch Lucy Lee growing up and think about how we had the joy of watching Haley, Hannah, and Hope(Hopie). Please know that we are praying! Matthew 5:4

Renée, Hanna, Haley, and Hope. Mom Wilma, and Brother Craig.....It seems it has been a lifetime since we all were together at First Baptist at Grant... But when I see David’s pictures and hear him speak through his skits, laughter and fun, it is all right there in my heart. You all were such a special family to our church and to everyone that knew you. Nothing can prepare you for the loss of a loved one, and the shock and grief that comes. But know that your husband and father made a impression on every person he ever met. He loved his God and his family and church family or anyone he ever met. And they loved him,David was a very special part of my life. I enjoyed being a part of ministry with him, he wrote a message to me. To my dear friend Sandra, and titled it,Red with his love! He asked Debbie McBride to write it and have it framed for me, with her beautiful drawings around it. He was a very dear friend to me also, and I will never forget his love for life and God... I cover you all with prayer, peace and joy, and I ask God to put His angels all around your family.. God bless all of the wonderful memories you all have with David, And he will be waiting on us all to join him. What a great day it will be to see our loved ones again, and to meet God in all His glory. I love you all and pray for grace as you go through the next days and years... Love Sandra
