Thomas Granville (Pigiron) Martin, 78 of Athens,
Alabama, died Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital.
Services will
be 2PM Saturday at Round Island Baptist Church with Mike Green and Dusty
McLemore officiating and burial at Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is
Saturday 12noon until service at the church. Spry Funeral Home in Athens is
directing.
Pallbearers will be Skyler Martin, Colton Martin, Braxton Martin,
Landon Martin, Ellis Walker and Barry Pressnell.
Mr. Martin was born June 13,
1945 in Limestone County and he was a graduate of Elkmont Hight School. He
enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and farming as a cattleman. He was an
active member and deacon at Round Island Baptist Church. Mr. Martin was a
charter member of the Limestone Lunkers Fishing Club and he loved his family
and his family loved “Poppy”.
Survivors: Wife of 56 years: Ginger McLemore
Martin of Athens; Sons: Grant Martin and Cint Martin both of Athens; Sister:
Francis Martin Pressnell of Athens; Six Grandchildren; One Great Grandson.
Preceded in death by: Father: William Marvin (Jack) Martin; Mother: Bernice Y.
Martin; Brothers: William Morris (Moose) Martin and Larry Martin; Sisters:
Elizabeth Faye Martin and Linda Gayle Martin Williams; Nephew: William Marvin
(Marty) Pressnell.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Round Island
Baptist Church or St. Jude.
