Jerry Wayne Jenkins, was born on November 23, 1950 in Athens, AL, to Herbert and Effie Jenkins and passed away on February 5, 2025 at the age of 74.
Jerry Lee, as most of his family and friends called him, was a lifelong resident of Athens where he attended Tanner High School and made friendships that lasted until his death. He enlisted in the Army at 18 and served in the Vietnam War. Jerry was proud of his service and enjoyed being a part of the local Athens VFW Post 4765. Following the Army, Jerry joined Kohler in Huntsville where he’d work for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 29 years, Nancy Carol Jenkins, and we know they are happy to finally be reunited; his parents Herbert & Effie Jenkins; and brother, Ross Jenkins.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Peggy Shores (Mike); step children, Debbie Strain (Whitney), Kenneth LaRue, Jr. (Elvira); step-grandson, Logan Strain; niece, Bonnie Shores Bielss (Justin); nephews, Michael Shores (Samantha) and Rudder Jenkins (Jennifer); two great-nieces and four great-nephews.
Jerry was a Christian and believed that he was going to a better place without illness and pain. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him. The family of Jerry Lee would like to thank all of his close friends that made the last few months easier for him. We’d also like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice, Limestone Nursing & rehabilitaNon Center, and The Limestone Lodge for the wonderful care they provided.
A graveside service will be held for Jerry Wayne Jenkins at 11 am on Monday, February 10th, 2025, at the Roselawn Cemetery with Dusty McLemore officiating.
