Roy Elois Perry, 94, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 24, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children.

Roy was born on March 18, 1931, to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Perry. He was a member of Sardis Springs Church of Christ.

Roy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will continue to uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a retired drywall hanger and painter, and those who knew him considered him a “jack of all trades.” Roy had a love for life bigger than most, and you could find him all around town visiting others and delivering homemade desserts made by his wife, Allie. If he wasn’t out and about, he loved being at home with her. You could find him working in the yard trimming trees, cutting the grass (always in 100-degree weather), feeding the birds, watering her flowers or just sitting on the porch swing holding Allie’s hand talking and listening to the birds. You always knew he was around by the sound of him whistling or singing. His love for life was big, but not nearly as big as his love for his family. Roy was happiest when his home was full of friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Allie Lois Perry; his two daughters, Brenda Walker and Jennifer Passwater; his son, Roy (Pam) Perry; and one daughter-in-law, Freida Perry. He is additionally survived by his two brothers, Kenneth (Joy) Perry and Herman (Judy) Perry and his two sisters, Elizabeth (Huelet) Lovell and Peggy (Eugene) Haney. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Donnie Perry; two sons, Larry and Bobby Perry; and one grandchild, Sable An Perry. He is also preceded in death by his brothers James, Robert, Billy Ray, Jackie, and Jerry Perry.

A celebration of Roy’s life will be on Wednesday, May 28th at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Spry Funeral Home in Athens, with Brother Eddy Litrell officiating. Allie has chosen a few hymns for the service and has requested everyone in attendance to please join in during the singing. Burial will immediately follow at Bottoms Cemetery on Oakdale Road.
Visitation will be from 12:30pm-2:00pm.

Pallbearers will be Shann Bedford, Mathew Perry, Nathan Perry, Eric Johnson, Bubba Perry, Dylan Johnston, and Richard McLaury (Honorary Pallbearer).
