Kristi
Gayle Gunter of Athens passed peacefully to her eternal home with God Saturday
morning surrounded by family and beloved friends.
She
was a member of Pepper rd church of Christ.
Kristi
was born March 1, 1972 to Michael R. and Wanda G. (Ball) Gunter
at Decatur General hospital.
She
was preceded in death by her grandparents Benton & Betty Ball and Ellis
& Syble Gunter.
She
is survived by her parents, one brother Jason (Bobbie) Gunter Tampa, Fl.
nephew Ethan (Kylie) great nephew Mason Jack. Survivors also include three
children Haley Blair Lovell, Bryna Marie Croley, Gunter Layne Croley and three
grandchildren Laura Leigh, Benton and Sierra.
Beloved
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Two
fur-babies Suki and Oliver.
Kristi
was formerly employed by Florence Police Dept., Athens Police Dept. and
Hemsi/Medcom as a communications specialist. She also worked at Browns Ferry
Nuclear plant as a security officer. She retired earlier this year from
Athens/Limestone 911 center as shift lead in communications. Kristi
was a stickler for details and was passionate about her job helping all those
who called for assistance.
Kristi
taught Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 for APCO and the Alabama Fire college
and other North Alabama agencies including the Limestone County Career
Technical Center.
As
passionate as she was about doing her job to the best of her abilities it paled
in comparison to her love and devotion for her three children. As a single
mother she spent countless hours first at the softball fields with Haley and
Bryna then with Layne at the basketball court or baseball field.
Kristi
never met a stranger, a friend to all and generous to those who needed her time
and love.
Per
Kristi's request no services will be held.
Memorials
can be made to Clearview Cancer center or Kids to Love foundation for foster
kids.

Momma, I love you and thankful to have had you as my mother. I’ll take care of Suki and Oliver. I know you always worried about them. I love you. I miss you dearly. I know I will see you again some day but for now, I miss you. I miss calling you to tell you about my day and asking if you want anything from the mexican restaurant. I promise to notice the little things in life and to not be so anxious about school or work. I love you. Thank you for being the best mom.
