On Monday, November 28, 2022, Geneva Alice Smith Morell, loving wife and mother of three children,

passed away at the age of 84. Nana, the name given to her by her 5 grandchild and most used by many
close relatives and friends was born October 9, 1938 in Athens, Alabama. She grew up in Athens with 9
siblings, 8 of which who proceeded her in death. She graduated from Elkmont High School in May of
1956, which is also when she married the love of her life and her husband of 66 years, William Walton

She lived and worked her whole life in Athens, Alabama and had many acquaintances and friends. She
rarely met a stranger and was recognized often when out at the many ballgames and activities of her

years at the local A&P until it closed in 1978. From there she went to work at Wal-Mart where she
worked as a department manager until retirement. People frequently stopped her, commented on how
they remembered her smiling face when they shopped as kids and several often had a memory to share.
She truly touched many lives within her community.

She was a loyal member of Northside Church of Christ where she attended for most of her life. She was
a loving woman of faith and devoted to regular worship and Bible study. She raised her children in faith
and passed on this example to her extended family, friends and others who knew her.

Also, known as "Nita" by close family, she is survived by her husband Sonny and 3 children: Susan Moore
Braun and husband Gary Braun, Ara Leigh Cripps and husband Dave Cripps and William Tazewell Morell
and wife Melissa Burgess Morell. In addition, she is survived by her 5 grandchildren and 1 great-
