Dorothy Thelma Allen, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 88 in Athens, Alabama. Born on March 17, 1937, in Alpine, Talladega County, Alabama, Dorothy lived a life marked by boundless love, faith, and devotion to her family and community.
 
Dorothy was a beacon of warmth and kindness, known for her welcoming spirit, heartfelt conversations, and nurturing presence. Her deep faith guided her life, and she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she touched countless lives with her generosity and compassion. Dorothy’s greatest joy was her family, particularly her 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Her stories, wisdom, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
 
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony L. Allen, Sr.; her father, Benjamin Hill; her mother, Veleree McCall Hill; her sister, Martha Frances Hill; and her brother, William Hill.

Dorothy is survived by her brothers, Robert (Alana) Hill and Larry (Cathy) Hill; her sister, Connie (Ike) Newton; and her children, Anthony (Jackie) Allen, Mike (Jennifer) Allen, Dave Allen, Pauline (Eddie) Falconbury, Steve (Heather) Allen, Thelma (Joel) Temple, and Ben (Shelia) Allen. She also leaves behind 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who will carry her memory forward.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1716 West Market Street, Athens, AL, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, AL.

Pallbearers will be: Adam Allen, Michael Allen, Austin Allen, Devin Falconbury, Tyler Falconbury, Joel Temple, and Justin Bryant. Honorary pallbearers include Bennett Temple, Matthew Temple, Aaron Temple, Jacob Falconbury, Landon Falconbury, and Chris Allen.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or a charity of your choice.

Dorothy Thelma Allen’s legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the countless lives she touched. Rest in peace, Granny, Little Granny, Manaw, Grandmama.
