Buddy Buford Stokes, 76 of Athens, Alabama, died
Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Stokes was born January 11,
1948 in Lauderdale County, Alabama, he was a member of Coxey Church of Christ,
he was a U.S. Army Veteran and he was retired from AT&T. He was always
willing to help anyone in need and loved a good joke. Mischief was his middle
name and to hear him laugh made everyone feel happy. His favorite places to be
were in the woods hunting or on the water fishing. He had a kind heart and soul
for everyone, especially for his family. His love for his family will be felt
for the rest of our lives and he will live on because he lives in our
hearts.
Services will be 1pm Friday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens
with Greg Brady, Cindy Potts and Buddy Stokes II officiating, burial in Dement
Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation is Friday 11am until service at Spry
Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Potts, Dakota Potts, Jacob Adams, John
Richardson, Matthew Brady and Brady Norris. Honorary Pallbearers are Lain
Richardson, Bob Carr and Ronnie Wales.
Survivors: Wife, Janis Stokes of Athens.
Daughters, Cindy (David) Potts of Athens and Michelle (Tony) Norris of Athens.
Sons, Michael Stokes of Athens, Buddy (Cynthia) Stokes of Ashford, AL and Greg
(Elaine) Brady of Athens. Grandchildren, Dakota Potts, Martha Potts, Barbara
Gayle Stokes, Autumn (Jacob) Adams, Matthew (Kelley) Brady, Brady Norris and
Emily Norris. Two Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in
death by: Parents, Sam and LouEtta Stokes. Brothers, Doug Stokes and Jerry
Stokes. Wives, Martha Stokes and Gail Stokes. Memorials may be made to Wounded
Warriors.
