James Dewayne Russell, 51 of Athens, Alabama, died Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital.

There will be a Memorial Visitation Friday 1PM until 3PM at Spry Funeral Home in Athens. No Services are planned.

Mr. Russell was born March 3, 1973 in Athens, Alabama and he worked in Construction & HVAC.

Survivors: Father: James Dwight Russell of Athens. Sisters: Suzan Pulliam (Terry) of Toney, AL and Crystal Russell of Ardmore, AL. Son: Justin Chambers (Kristen) of Rogersville; Three Grandchildren; Nieces: Candace Lightsey and Amber Phebus; Nephews: Brian Lightsey and Lane Bledsoe.

Preceded in death by: Mother: Deborah Bowden; Grandparents: James Douglas & Myrtle Black Russell and James & Grace Newkirk.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Gabe was a wonderful man. I loved to hear him pick his guitar and sing. He had an amazing voice! Now he's singing with the angels! I pray that God wraps his arms around you all and gives you the strength and comfort to get through this difficult time .
