Phillip Bryan Dean of Athens, born June 12, 1959, passed away July 17, 2024 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham after a short illness. He was surrounded by his beloved children.
 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Arlin Dean, Sr. and Doris Randle Dean. Survivors include his children Darcy Mosley (Joe), Lara Dean, Bryan Dean (Morgan), and his three precious grandchildren, Lelia, Vera, and Herky Mosley. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Arlin Dean, Jr.; sisters, Mary Kay Crawford (Danny) and Jennifer Bunnell (Charles), and several nieces and nephews.
 
 
Phillip graduated from Athens High School in 1977 and was a member of AHS’s back-to-back football state championships in 1975 and 1976. He was named Best Offensive Lineman in 1976. Phillip graduated from the University of Alabama in 1982 and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He earned his B.S. in Pharmacy from Samford University, 1985. After becoming a registered pharmacist, he worked by his father’s side at Limestone Drug Co. until the business sold in 2003. For years, Phillip assisted in running his family’s businesses while working at Elk River Treatment Program and providing care to his aging parents. He began working for Monique and Billy Cannon at Eastside Pharmacy and Compounding in August 2016 and enjoyed many happy years there with his work family until his passing.
 
 
He was a sensitive and caring soul who was happiest spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his free time, Phillip treasured being in the woods enjoying nature, deer hunting, hiking, and working outdoors on his farm. He loved El Palacio salsa, deviled eggs, pecan pie, and broccoli salad. Phillip was a compassionate friend and dedicated caregiver to his family, friends and customers of all ages. His friends and customers have openly shared how they will miss his sense of humor and kindness. Phillip led a quiet, private life and had a deep love for his country. He made regular posts reminding everyone to thank our country’s veterans for their service and sacrifices. Phillip was a member of Athens First Methodist Church.

Im sad we weren't able to be there due to circumstances out of our control. Grandma, I wish I could have hugged you one more time and told you I love you. I will always have our memories together and there are so many. RIP Grandma Harris 😔❤️
