Mrs. JoAnn Fain Byram, age 81 of Athens, passed away at her home Saturday April 15th. Mrs. Byram was born Dec 17th 1941, to Thomas and Mary Fain.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Byram; her parents; and her sister Corrine Reece. She is survived by her sister; Barbara Jean Pugh; two daughters; Melanie Bridges (Jeff), Janet Lee (Jeff); grandchildren Jessica Mathias (Jake), Jamison Bridges (Summer), Bailee Kochevar (Will), and BreAnna Clounch; great-grandchildren Blakely and Braelynn Bridges and Bridges and Blair Mathias; several nieces and nephews; and very special friend Gerald Bates. She was a member of Mt Carmel Church of Christ. JoAnn instilled the mindset of “do unto others as you’d have others do unto you” into her family and her greatest joy was found in caring for others. She was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. She recently was most proud of her title “Granma Jo” lovingly bestowed upon her by her great grandchildren. She was actively involved in Athens Jaycee-ettes and created lifelong friendships through that organization.

Services will be 1PM Friday at Spry Funeral Home in Athens, AL, with Andy John King officiating and Jeff Bridges, Barry Pugh and JoAnn’s grandchildren speaking.  Burial will follow in Athens City Cemetery.  Visitation is Thursday 5PM until 8PM at Spry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jamison Bridges, Jake Mathias, Will Kochevar, Dexter Pugh, Cody Holder, David Wilbanks and Ken Bates.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of JoAnn Byram.
