Carol Marie Locke, 85 of Athens,
Alabama went to meet her Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Carol, a
native of Alameda, California, was the daughter of the late James and Nancy
Rowney.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Rowney, Jr.
Mrs.
Locke is survived by her loving husband, Leroy Locke, sons, Allan (Colette)
Macomber, Scott (Deeann) Macomber, Bud (Kara) Locke and daughter, Suzy
(Michael), sister, Susie (Cassius), sister-in-law, Barbara and eight
grandchildren (who lovingly called her “Bama”), and six great grandchildren,
many nieces and nephews.
Carol was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in
Athens. She retired as a school nurse in the Pleasanton School District in
California and as a Hospice Nurse. Carol loved having her family around and
spent many hours telling stories about her childhood. She enjoyed watching her
children in their various sporting activities, traveling, going on cruises,
playing board games, taking her grandkids to play mini golf, collecting egg
cups, and listening to the police scanner! As a young teen she entered a yoyo
contest. She won first place and received two highly coveted gold yo-yos.
Services for Mrs. Locke will be held at 11am Friday at First Baptist Church in
Athens, Alabama with Tee Jackson, Sr. Adult Pastor officiating and visitation
from 9am – 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made to Alabama
Baptist Children’s Home, 1404 15th Avenue SE, Decatur, AL
35601.
