Joe Wayne Johns, 80 of Athens, Alabama, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

There will be a 3pm Graveside Service Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur.

Visitation is from 12noon until 2pm Monday at Spry Funeral Home in Athens.

Mr. Johns was born November 25, 1940 in Limestone County.

Survivors: Wife: Linda Joyce Johns of Athens; Sons: Shannon Johns of Tanner, Timothy Johns of Decatur and Steven Johns of Tanners; Daughter: Kathryn Chambers of Elkmont; Seven Grandchildren; Seven Great Grandchildren.

So many good memories of the 30 plus years, that he was my "best friend & neighbor". Cannot replace a guy that was more thoughtful and willing to help out with anything. His passing is such a loss to the community and the county. There will never be a person to replace his sense of humor and willingness to help anybody. Gonna miss him tooting his horn if I was out in the yard when he passed bye. It's a sad day on Sugar Creek today!
Rest in peace "fool" you deserve it !
