James Anthony Sutton, 63, passed away at Vanderbilt Medical Center on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. He was born July 21, 1961 in Athens, Alabama to Jimmy and Nancy Sutton.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 23, 2024 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Spry’s Funeral Home in Athens, AL. Funeral services for Mr. Sutton will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. with Jeremiah McElyea officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Sutton was a member of The Way Church. He was a devoted husband and loving father, pawpaw, son, brother, and friend. He was happiest when everyone he loved was under one roof and he was in charge. He was a local business owner of Sutton’s Furniture. Hopeless romantic to Janice Sutton. Lover of a good deal. Karaoke king. Car dealer extraordinaire. Possessor of razmataz. Game-show host to America’s Favorite Game Show, “How Many Miles Have We Gone?” Adventurer of the scenic route. Fan of ladies’ readers. Renowned Interior Decorator. Connoisseur of meat and threes, and bar-b-que and greasy hamburger joints all across the Southeast. Hunter of the elusive snow-storm. And Self-proclaimed marketing genius, with greatest hits that include “Don’t Sell the Baby” and “But Daddy Said Sell Everything”.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Sutton; daughters, Lerrin Anicela Thompson (Brad) and Mattison Audrey Sutton; mother, Nancy Sutton; brother, Allen Sutton (Melanie); sisters, Angela Broadway (Michael), Abra Allen (John); granddaughter, Jimma Huston Thompson; grandson, James Nash Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Edward Sutton
 
Pallbearers will be Mike Broadway, Rowe Allen, Joey Kyle, John Emerson, Dustin Haraway, and Brad Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Sutton, Michael Broadway, John Allen, Franklin Williams, and Gary Raabe.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
