Bonnie Ray Brooks, 87 of Athens, Alabama, died Monday, September 11, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital.
He was born January 22, 1936 to Charlie Brooks and Ilean Adams Brooks in Limestone County, AL. He was known by many as a very dedicated and dependable employee for 42 years as the counterman at Tennessee Valley Wholesalers, pluming and electrical company in Athens, AL. Mr. Brooks was a charter member of Seven Mile Post Road Church of Christ, only missing a service in an emergency. Married to his loving wife of 64 years Joyce King Brooks whom he loved dearly and took care of as long as he lived. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ilean Brooks, a sister Flossie Mae Brooks Smith, brother-in-law, William Smith and a niece Delores Ann Smith Hambrick, He survivors are Joyce King Brooks (spouse), his adopted children, Tony and Patti Elliott and beloved granddaughter Maggie Elliott Ingram (Grayson), a niece Melanie Denise Smith Hall (Billy), great nephews Andrew Hall (Emily) and Dustin Hall (Jennifer). He loved all his King Family, brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Services will be 2pm Thursday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Tony Elliott, Dwight Ridinger, Joe Curtis, Maggie Ingram and Tony Edwards officiating with burial in Dement Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday 5pm until 8pm at Spry Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hall, Andrew, Hall, Dustin Hall, Justin Frey, and Andy King and Tim Griswold. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Bauer, Wayne Davis, Wayne Vaughn, John Wayne King and Richard Frey.
