Archie Eugene Barnett Sr., age 75, passed away on March 7, 2024, at his residence in Athens,
 
Alabama after a lengthy illness. Archie was born on January 17, 1949, at Lester Hospital in Lester, Alabama.
 

He graduated from Lauderdale County High School in 1967 and from the University of North Alabama in 1970. He worked in the accounting field in Florence, Alabama and Rogersville, Alabama. He also worked several years for Duke Energy in Charlotte, North Carolina. After becoming disabled, he obtained a realtor’s license and worked with Crye-Leike Realty in Athens, Alabama, and made many realtor friends.
 

Archie was a faithful member of the West Hobbs Street Church of Christ and enjoyed going with some of the members on mission trips to the Church of Christ in Guyana. He especially enjoyed the young people at church.
 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alta Snoddy Barnett, his father, Robert Vernon Barnett, his son, Archie Eugene Barnett Jr. and is survived by his wife, Vickie Howard Barnett, his sister, Barbara Barnett Cornelius, his granddaughter, Brett Ashley Barnett, and his nieces and nephews.
 

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County and North Alabama Christian Children’s Home in Florence, Alabama.
 

Services will be 1 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Bill Irby officiating, burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery in Rogersville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11;30 am until Service.

 
Pallbearers will be Donnie Holt, Eddie Hodges, Stan Hogan, Blake Hogan, Keith Hogan and Harlow Fikes . Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Howard, Kraig Behel, Jay Cornelius, Eric Cornelius and Rob Cornelius.

My condolences, well-wishes, and prayers for peace for Archie’s family. When I was growing up, I spent a lot of time with him and his son. I will greatly miss both. Until we all meet again. Sincerely and with many tears; Jay L. Graham
