Current Obituaries
Edith Louise Lauderdale Craig, 95, of Athens passed away on April 09, 2022         
at Limestone Health Facility.  

Edith was born in Athens on October 18, 1926 where she lived, worked and raised her family on a farm in Limestone County.  She was a lifelong legacy member of the Shanghai Baptist Church in the Owens Community. Edith was a Lifetime Member of the DAV and VFW Auxiliary for many years where she was known for supporting and cooking for Veterans.
 

She was predeceased in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard Edward Craig,
a WWII disabled Veteran, parents Archie and Reba Lauderdale, two brothers
James and William Lauderdale.   

Survivors include her four sons, Eddie (Mary) Craig of Athens, Allen Craig of Athens, Jerry (Delilah) Craig of Boiling Springs, SC,Michael (Dee) Craig of Ringgold, GA, Sister, Helen Laskey of Elkmont, 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her adopted sisters and travel buddies, Robbie Gozia and Annette Davis.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 13 at 2 PM with services at 3 PM at Spry Funeral Home in Athens.  

Burial will be at Limestone Memorial Gardens following services.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans,
Veterans of Foreign Wars or Shanghai Baptist Church.
