Winston P. (Buddy) Spencer was born December 23, 1935 in Athens, AL. He passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023.
Mr. Spencer was a lifelong resident of Athens and was a partner with his brothers and father at Spencer Implement Company for more than 50 years. He was the son of Bonnie Belle Smith and Charles Wesley Spencer.
Mr. Spencer enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed Alabama football and was never without a beloved dog companion. He served in the National Guard where he fired expert with the MI Ground Rifle and was a volunteer member of the Athens Fire Department for many years. He was a 1954 graduate of Athens High School.
Mr. Spencer is survived by his wife of 66 years Camilla Shaw Spencer; daughter, Whitney Spencer Young and husband, Greg; granddaughters, Tevvy (Jim) McDole and Robyn (Landon) Carter, and great-grandson, Macon McDole. He is also survived by Jonathan (Sara) Young and great-granddaughter, Zoey Young, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant son, Winston Glen, and his brothers Charles and Harold.
Visitation for Mr. Spencer will be at Spry Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 2:30-3:30 with service to follow. Graveside will be at Athens City Cemetery following the service.
