On Friday, November 10, William (Will) Lee Blakely, beloved son and brother, passed away at age 19.
Will was born on December 3, 2003, in Huntsville, AL to Jonathan and Christina Blakely. A member of the Class of '22 at James Clemens High School, Will was majoring in Nutrition at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, which he attended on a Merit Scholarship.
Will was a talented cook, specializing in vegan recipes built around Asian and Mexican spices. Delighting in exotic ingredients, his face was known in ethnic grocery stores all around town. Once, he even managed to talk his grandmother into trying a Thai durian fruit with him.
Will had great love for animals. As a child, he raised chickens and quails. As a teenager, he worked for a time at the Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter. Will especially loved the family dogs, Sweet Pea and Maisy, who slept in his bed and always brought him comfort and consolation in difficult times.
Will is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Choate. He is survived by his father Jonathan, mother Christina, and siblings Luke, Emily, and Jesse, grandparents, Lee and Melanie Blakely, grandmother, Rosalie Choate, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 14 at Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Parish. The service will be preceded by a visitation at 11 AM, also at Mercy Parish.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Athens-Limestone Animal Shelter.

I met Will on a friends app about 4 years ago, it really hurts not knowing he passed away so sudden. He will be missed. He always talked about college and that he would show me his cooking pictures, which looked so good. I will miss so dearly, he was a great long distance friend. Sending love and prayers.
