Thomas Wilbur
Stair, age 80 of Athens passed away Thursday at his residence. Mr. Stair was
born December 17, 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was retired from Athens
Limestone Hospital in Athens, and was previously employed at M.D. Anderson
in Houston, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Athens. Served
his country in the United States Airforce, and was a local volunteer with many
organizations.
Services
will be 2 pm Monday at First Baptist Church with Joel Carwile and Dr. Aaron D.
Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens City Cemetery. Visitation
will be Monday from 12 noon until service at the church.
Pallbearers will be his Grandsons and Nephews. Honorary pallbearers will
be Paul Mammana and Marion Williams. Memorial donations can be made to
First Baptist Church or Hospice of North Alabama.
Survivors
include his wife, Carolyn Rogers Stair of Athens. Son, Mike G. Stair and wife
Dale of Cumberland, Maine. Daughter, Lori Halverson and husband Tom of
Colleyville, Texas. Stepdaughter, Michele Caine Edwards and husband Matt of
Toney, Alabama. Grandchildren, Parker Stair, Jase Picciano, Matt Halverson,
Lauren Halverson, Matthew Edwards, Will Edwards and wife Shae, Kaleigh Clanton
and husband Michael. Great grandchildren, Samuel Clanton and Thomas Edwards.
Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Preceded
in death by parents, Melvin Stair and Margaret Stair, and Brother Ron
Stair.
