Sarah Jane Hudson, 90 of Athens, Alabama, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at her residence.

Services will be 1PM Saturday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Steve Cline officiating, burial in Athens City Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday 10AM until service at Spry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hudson was born December 16, 1933 in Limestone County, she was a member of Eastside Church of Christ, a former member of Athens Garden Club and a member of Alabama Porcelain Painters Guild.

Survivors: Sons: Tim Hudson of Rogersville, AL and Kent Hudson of Athens, AL; Sisters: Charolette Groce of Pensacola, FL and Mary Ann long of Franklin, TN; Grandchildren: Laura Hudson, Ashley Hudson, Joseph Hudson and Sarah Hudson; Great Grandson: Damien Armstrong. Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Preceded in death by: Husband: J. W. Hudson; Son: Brandley Hudson.

Tommy, Carolyn, and Beverly, I am sorry I was unable to attend Essie’s service, I had our grandchildren on Friday while their parents prepared for our trip to the beach. I am also sorry I was not able to visit with her, Linda Gail had told me Essie and Caroline were living around the corner from Rogers Street but I could not figure out which house it was. I know she is happy to be reunited with Lewis.

We want to express our heartfelt sympathy at the passing of your mother and grandmother. She was a dear friend for many years, a precious sister in Christ, and a wonderful porcelain painting teacher. She will be sorely missed, but has gained her reward.
