Mr. Ray A. Gold, 68 of Athens, AL died Wednesday May  26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Gold was of Baptist faith. He was born February 25, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Thomas and Doris Gold.

Survivors include his wife Margie Gold of Athens; his stepchildren Greg Miller (Wendy) of Athens, Jeff Miller of Athens, Sonya Inman (Marty) of Florida, Chad Miller (Jeni) of Athens; 8 grandchildren; Eric Miller, Cody Inman (Shelby) of South Dakota, Colin Miller (McKenna), Rebekah Inman (Max), Heath Miller, Aidan Miller, Zac Miller, and Annesly Miller; 1 great-grandchild Lucy Miller; sister Carol Mullins (Harry) of Illinois and an estranged sister Kathy Mullins of Tennessee.

Ray is preceded in death by an estranged brother Tommy Gold of Kentucky. Ray served honorably in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he began a career with General Motors where he retired in 2007. He ultimately became an International Union Representative representing UAW Local 2195 and maintained that position until his retirement. After retirement, he held elected positions which included Chairman of the Retirees Committee and an Executive Board position of Local 2195.

Pallbearers are his Local 2195 Union Brothers: Howard Greene, Vaughn Goodwin, Ronnie Messer, Bill Freeman, Jimmy Downs, and Phillip McElyea. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday May 29 th at 2PM at Spry Funeral Home with Eric Pugh officiating and Chuck McDonald as speaker. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday May 28 th from 5PM – 8PM.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Limestone County in his honor.
