John Larry McGrew, 76, of Athens, AL died Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Athens Limestone Hospital.

He was born on January 29, 1948 in Chattanooga, TN. He was a long-time baptist church member and retired from Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Carrie McGrew, and 2 sisters.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 2 PM in Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until service time.

Survivors include: his wife of of 43 years, Linda McGrew of Athens, AL; sons, Keith McGrew of Kimball, TN and Brandon McGrew of Taylorsville, KY; brothers, George McGrew of Andersonville, TN and James McGrew of Ringgold, GA; sisters, Addie Walker of Bowling Green, KY and Sarah Faires of Roanoke, Virginia; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

So saddened to hear of John's death but rejoicing that he is well again and can sing once again and now with the Heavenly Choir. I feel blessed to have known him as a friend and witnessed his faith through his service at West Highland Baptist Church for many years prior to his illness. Thank you, John. Carol Malone
