Jerry R. Barksdale, age 78 of Athens died Tuesday April 7, 2020 at the University Alabama Birmingham Hospital.
Jerry was a retired attorney, but active historian and storyteller. He was a devoted supporter of the Alabama Veterans Museum. Jerry was a veteran of the Alabama Army National Guard.
Services will be private. The Barksdale family ask anyone wishing to make a memorial in Jerry's name, to do that to the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives.
Jerry is survived by his sometimes redhead, Pat Goodin.
Son, Matthew Barksdale of Guntersville.
Daughter, Shannon Barksdale of Toas, New Mexico.
Grandchildren, Joshua Barksdale of Guntersville., and FaithEllen Barksdale of Clear Water, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Rufus and Florene Barksdale.
Son, Mark Barksdale.
