Mrs. Gladys Irene G. Nelson, 92 of Athens, Alabama, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Limestone Health Facility.  

Mrs. Nelson was born November 29, 1927 in Limestone County, she was a member of Friendship North United Methodist Church in Athens. She was a homemaker, a member of RSVP, a member of the Golden Age Band for 20 years and a member of Athens Senior Center.

Services will be 3pm Friday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Dorning, Brother Jeremy Posey and Dan Anderson officiating, burial in Myers Cemetery, visitation is from 1:30 until service Friday at Spry Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Lee Posey, Jeremy Posey, Josh Nelson, Cory Nelson, Nathan Posey, and Judson Nelson. Caden Posey and Caleb Posey are the Honorary Pallbearers.

Survivors: Daughter, Marilyn (Larry) Posey of Athens; Son, Lester A. “Buddy” (Connie) Nelson of Alabama. Grandchildren, Josh Nelson, Cory Nelson, Lee Posey and Jeremy Posey. Great Grandchildren, Nathan Posey, Gracie Nelson, Judson Nelson, Caden Posey, Caleb Posey, Maddie Posey, Brianna Nelson, Marley Nelson, Brylie Posey and Kynslee Posey. Sisters, Kathleen Carr, Naomi Key, Betty King and Marie McNatt. Several Nieces and Nephews.

Preceded in death by: Husband, Carlyle Nelson. one Sister and five Brothers.

We are so sorry to learn of James Alfred (Shap to us) death. Our deepest sympathy to all his family. Shap was a great friend to all who knew him.

Sorry to hear of Jimmy's death. We all thought so much of him when we worked for him at Prestolite.! He was a great man and boss!
