Evelyn Hughes Evans, age 90 of Athens passed away Thursday
at Athens Limestone Hospital.
Mrs. Evans was born December 18, 1930 in
Mississippi, she was a bookkeeper for Sharp and Killen for many years as well
as her real estate house business. Mrs. Evans was a charter member of
Friendship United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Methodist
Women's Society. Mrs. Evans and her late Husband were active RV
travelers, she was the last surviving member of her Hughes family.
Services will be 3 pm Sunday in the chapel of Spry Funeral
Home, with Steve Dorning officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn
Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 pm until service at the funeral
home. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Great Grandsons.
Survivors, Daughter, Susan Evans Taylor and her late husband
Kenneth E. Taylor of Russellville, KY. Sons, William Nelson Evans Jr. of
Athens. David Hughes Evans and his wife Dara of Athens. Six Grandchildren and
Eight Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, William Nelson
Evans Sr. and all her Siblings. The family ask donations be made to The
American Cancer Society or The Kidney Foundation.

So many good memories of the 30 plus years, that he was my "best friend & neighbor". Cannot replace a guy that was more thoughtful and willing to help out with anything. His passing is such a loss to the community and the county. There will never be a person to replace his sense of humor and willingness to help anybody. Gonna miss him tooting his horn if I was out in the yard when he passed bye. It's a sad day on Sugar Creek today! Rest in peace "fool" you deserve it !
