Elvie “Archie” Powers Jr., 82 of Athens, Alabama, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Powers was born September 28, 1941 in Limestone County. He was retired from L & S Foodland as a Butcher for 35 years.

Services will be 1PM Friday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Joel Carwile officiating.

Visitation is Friday 12noon until service at Spry Funeral Home.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

Survivors: Wife: Brenda Griffin Powers of Athens; Son: Hollis (Monica McAllister) Powers of Athens; Grandson: Brett Powers of Ladson, South Carolina; Granddaughter: McKenna G. Powers of Athens.

Preceded in death by: Parents: Elvie and Mary Lee Powers; Sister: Glenna Fay Billings; Brother-in-law: Charles Billings.

Sue, I have been learning of your life and the love of your family and friends through your adoring son, Will, over the past few days. I didn't know you personally but wish I had as you were my kind of girl! Whip smart, an overachiever, but always put family first. And I wish you would have taught me to cook!
