David Larry Newton, 72 of Athens died Monday July 15, 2019 at Athens Limestone Hospital.
Mr. Newton was born June 21, 1947 in Limestone County, he was a member of First Independent Methodist Church of Athens, a retired welder, and a member of the Athens Masonic Loge #16.
Services will be 2 pm Saturday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Bill Marks officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunnyhill Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Pallbearers will be Cody Newton, Gavin James, Bryan Newton, Christopher Newton, Jason Hamilton, Ken Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Aycock, Simon Aycock, Terry McCorrmick, Ian St.Germain, and Gage Thompson. Survivors include wife of 46 years Patricia Newton of Athens. Mother, Alice Adell Newton of Athens. Daughter, Whitney James of Athens. Sons, Larry Lee Newton (Christy) of Athens, Dwight Nathan Newton (Nicole) of Athens. Grandchildren, Cody, Shawn, Zoe Newton. Gavin, Layla James. Shae, Madison, Jakobi, Britian Newton. Brothers, Jerry Newton of Athens. Perry Newton of Madison. Sister, Mot Scroggins of Athens. Nieces and Nephews.
Mr. Newton was preceded in death by, Father, David Nathan Newton. Brother, Gary Brock Newton. Sister, Patricia Ann Hamilton. Brother In Law, Jerry Hamilton and Nephew, Bracy Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation.
