Barbara Ann Glanton Smith, 86 of
Athens, Alabama, entered her heavenly home on Friday, May 19, 2023, surrounded
by her family.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, a dedicated Christian,
and loving wife of Charles Smith for sixty-six years. Barbara was a happy
homemaker and very dedicated to her family. She loved doing for others and had
a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Webster and Ruth
Glanton; son, Steven Alan Smith, sisters, Betty Coffman (Milton), Nancy
Stafford, Faye Thompson and Peggy White.
She is survived by her husband,
Chares. Sons, David Lane (Katie) and Greg. Brother, David Glanton (Alice).
Services will be 2PM Monday in the chapel at First Baptist Church with Joe Teal
officiating with burial in Athens City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday
12noon until service at First Baptist Church. Spry Funeral Home in Athens is
directing the services.
Pallbearers will be David (Shorty) Glanton, Keith
Floyd, Clint Smith, Mark Scott, Tommy Allen and Marty Pitts. Honorary
Pallbearers will be Comer Beasley and Joe Richardson.
In lieu of flowers please
send contributions to Hospice of Limestone County or St. Jude’s Children’s
Hospital.

Your father was a good man who loved you very much. I know he's up there doing high fives with Shug's grandparents.
