Ann Bentley Morgan
passed away on January 13, 2024. She was the youngest daughter of Reuben
Marshall Bentley and Gladys Gardner Bentley of Brantley, Alabama.
A woman of great faith, Ann was a long-time devoted member of Vestavia Hills
Methodist Church and the Trinity Sunday school class.
Born and raised in Brantley Alabama, Ann began her college education at Judson
College and then transferred to Huntingdon College in 1947, where she met
Brownie Morgan, a young World War II veteran who had just been honorably
discharged following his service in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific theater.
They married in 1949 and over the years, they followed Brownie’s sales and management
career with Nabisco to locations in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama, had three
beloved daughters, and made many lifelong friends wherever they lived.
Ann was a gifted artist and enjoyed a successful career as a china painter for
over 40 years. She developed an admiring and loyal clientele who eagerly
purchased her custom hand-painted porcelain Christmas ornaments and Easter eggs
year after year.
Ann’s creativity also extended to music and sewing. She could often be found at
the sewing machine creating dresses for her girls or playing the piano and
happily singing Pat Boone songs.
Ann is survived by her three daughters Betty Von Grisham (Jimmy) of Athens,
Alabama; Anita Colley (Steve) of Acworth, Georgia; and Karolyn McGee (Llane) of
Huntsville, Alabama. She was “Abie” to nine grandchildren, seventeen
great-grandchildren, and several loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Winton Brian (“Brownie”)
Morgan, her parents Reuben and Gladys Bentley and her sister Vonceil Bentley
McKay.
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Vestavia Hills Methodist
Church on February 10 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Vestavia Hills
Methodist Church columbarium immediately following the service.

Saddened by the news of Barbara's death. We attended church together for many years at West Highland Baptist. A gracious, lovely woman of faith. My condolences to Linda and to her children.
