Gwendolyn Haney McCrary Stone gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, April 10, 2022.
She was the anchor of our family that loved unconditionally and with all of her heart. Our Angel.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ransom and Kathryn Haney, Husbands, Johnny Leon McCrary and Don Stone. Brothers, Bobby Haney, Ronald Glen Haney and David Haney and Son-in-law, Jerry Freeman.
She is survived by her children Renee McGill (Ted), Ramona Freeman, Randall McCrary (Teresa) and Gay Compton (Mike). Grandchildren, Dennis Freeman (Lisa), Jessica Vincent (Anthony), Rebecca Freeman, Caleb McCrary (Molly), Adam McCrary, Matthew Compton (Jennifer), John Michael Compton (Hannah) and Samuel Compton. Great Grandchildren, Elizabeth Freeman, Jordan Freeman and Kayden Freeman, Brody Micklow, Koen McCrary, Monroe Compton. Sisters, Joanne Stewart (Steve) and Delle (Black (Steve). Brothers, Jimmy Don Haney (Shirley) and Eugene Haney (Peggy). Sister-in-laws, Sandra Davis (Michael), Sue Nell Frost (Kevin) and Deborah Stone. Brother-in-laws, Wayne McCrary (June) and Paul McCrary (Vicky). Several Nieces and Nephews that she cherished and loved dearly.
Gwendolyn was retired from the Limestone County Board of Education Central Office. She was a member of Tanner Baptist Church for many years before becoming a member of Elkmont United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her sisters to the mountains and loving on her grandbabies and family.
Services for Gwendolyn will be visitation on Wednesday from 6-9pm at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with funeral at 2pm on Thursday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to the charity of your choice or the Elkmont Methodist Church services conducted by Brother Thom Porter.
