Stephen Forrest Pendergrass, age 78, of
Athens died at Crestwood Medical Center on February 10, 2026. He was born
September 26, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Pendergrass was a member of
the First Baptist Church in Athens, employed at Huntsville Hospital and a
veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He is survived by his wife, Linda Pendergrass;
daughter, Lori Pendergrass (spouse John Christopher Webster); son, Wally
Pendergrass (Lydia); grandchildren, Dawson Sconyers, Gavin Sconyers, Gunner
Sconyers, Drake Sconyers, and Benji Pendergrass; brothers, Ed Pendergrass,
Donnie Pendergrass, and Larry Pendergrass; several nieces & nephews as well
as loyal fur babies: Piper & Malachi. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Forrest & Edna Pendergrass.
There will be a visitation Monday,
February 16, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home of Athens.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17th at Spry Funeral Home
officiated by Joel Carwile with interment following at Athens City Cemetery.
