Mrs. Martha Moran Taylor, of Athens, Alabama, passed
peacefully from this life into eternity, leaving behind a legacy of faith,
love, and selfless service that will continue for generations. She was born on
February 25, 1941, to George and Lula Moran.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert
Taylor; her sons, Daniel Taylor and Darrel Taylor; her precious granddaughter,
Katie Lynn Taylor; her daughter-in-law, Denise Taylor; her parents, George and
Lula Moran; her brother, David Moran; and her sisters, Kathryn Baugher, Dean
Barnett, Eunice Moran, and Faye Sims.
Together, Martha and Robert built far more than a
house—they built a home where love knew no limits. Whether through legal
adoption or simply opening their hearts and home to someone in need, they
welcomed children as their own. To Martha, family was never defined by blood
alone but by love, commitment, and compassion. Her door was always open, her
table always had room for one more, and her heart was always big enough for
another child to love.
After 28 years of faithful service, Martha retired as a
school bus driver for the Limestone County Board of Education. She safely
transported generations of students and became a familiar, caring face to
countless families throughout Limestone County. She genuinely loved "her
kids" on the bus and treasured the opportunity to encourage them each day.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Martha loved her
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and every baby who came into her
life. She never outgrew the desire to care for others. Whether rocking a
newborn, babysitting, preparing a meal, or simply offering a listening ear,
serving others came naturally to her. Even in the last weeks of her life, she
was still helping care for the children she loved so dearly.
Above all else, Martha loved the Lord. She was a faithful
and active member of O'Neal Church of Christ for many years. Her Christian
faith shaped every aspect of her life. She believed in serving quietly, loving
generously, forgiving freely, and putting others before herself. Her life was a
beautiful example of Christian hospitality, kindness, and unwavering devotion
to God.
She leaves behind a family that will forever cherish her
example and strive to continue the legacy of love she and Robert began.
She is survived by her sons: Clint Taylor of Athens,
Alabama; Brad Taylor and wife Nanette of Athens, Alabama; Matt Taylor and wife
Leah of Athens, Alabama; Randall Taylor and wife Christy of Athens, Alabama;
Derrick Taylor and wife Shey of Decatur, Alabama; J.J. Taylor and wife Jaclyn
of Athens, Alabama; Alex Taylor of Cherokee, Alabama; Montez Taylor of Athens,
Alabama; Andy Taylor of Athens, Alabama; and Isaac Taylor of Athens, Alabama.
She is also survived by her daughters: Debbie Appleton and
husband David of Athens, Alabama; Mary Kelly of Athens, Alabama; Melanie Taylor
of Athens, Alabama; and Nancy Taylor of Athens, Alabama.
She also leaves behind 35 beloved grandchildren, 26
cherished great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special extended
children, Ashlee Taylor and family and Jason Wilkerson and family, all of whom
she loved as her own.
Although her family mourns her passing, they do not grieve
without hope. Martha lived with the assurance of God's promises and looked
forward to the day she would be with the Lord she faithfully served. Her
influence will continue through every child she nurtured, every life she
touched, and every act of love she inspired.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 17, 2026 at
O’Neal Church of Christ from 12:00 noon until service time. Services will begin
at 3:00 p.m. Friday the 17th at O’Neal Church of Christ officiated
by Matt Taylor. Interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery with Guy McDaniel
Officiating.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude
for the many prayers, visits, meals, and expressions of kindness shown during
this time. Martha's greatest desire was that others would know the love of
Christ, and her family rejoices in the hope of seeing her
again.
