Marvin Eugene Ferguson, age 86, of Athens died January 7, 2026. He was born May 25, 1939 to John and Thelma Ferguson in Morgan County, Alabama. He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service and a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Ferguson, Sons, Tim (Brandie), Barry (Ann), and Jason (Mitzi), daughter, Michelle (Gene), grandchildren, Kanetha (Ande) Jackson, Keisha Ferguson, Barron (Aleia) Ferguson, Hannah (Jonathan) Tilley, Bailey (Sawyer) Moore, Jennifer Hartsfield, Alex Ferguson, Mallory Ferguson, Natalie Ferguson, Dakota Ball, Grayson Ball, and Maddie Ball, great-grandchildren, Kade Johnson, Kobe Johnson, Saylor Campbell, Brentlee Campbell, Parker Akins, Marlee Moore, McKinlee Moore, Jaxson Tilley, Noah Tilley, Preston Moore, sister, Sue Swan, brother, Herbert Ferguson, several nieces and nephews as well as beloved dogs, Max and Joey.

The family will have a visitation Saturday, January 10th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12th at Spry Funeral Home officiated by Joel Carwile and Keenan Braden. Pallbearers will be Alex Ferguson, Dakota Ball, Grayson Ball, Barron Ferguson, Sawyer Moore, Jonathan Tilley, and Ande Jackson. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery with military honors
