
James Allen
Callahan, Jr., age 64, of Athens died Monday, January 19th, 2026 at Huntsville
Hospital. He was born January 29, 1961 in Morgan County, Alabama to James Allen
Callahan, Sr and Shelby Jean (Randolph) Callahan. He was of the Baptist Faith
and retired from Alabama Farmers Co-op.
He is
survived by his wife, Mildred Callahan, daughters, Tammy (Maverick) Champion
and Regina Knox, grandchildren, Michelle (Tyler) Mott, Christy Mathews, and
Alyssa Pope, great-grandchildren, Jayden Mott, Ella Mott, Emma Mott, Gage Mott,
Annabeth Wilson, Elaina Wilson, brother, Michael (Vicky) Callahan, sister, Kay
(Brett) Waters, Sabrina (Danny) Standridge, as well as several nieces and
nephews.
The
family will have a visitation at Spry Funeral Home of Athens from 12 noon until
service time on Thursday, January 22, 2026 with services starting at 2:30 p.m.
also at Spry officiated by Luther Dugger and Michael Callahan. Interment will
be at Germantown Cemetery in Elkmont, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Maverick
Champion, Tyler Mott, Jayden Mott, David Bowden, Jimmy Neeley, Woodey Stewart,
Brett Backer, and Danny Standridge. Honorary pallbearer will be Gage Mott.
