
Bruce Edward Jansen, a longtime member of the Elkmont
community, was born on January 31, 1957, and passed away on January 2, 2026.
Bruce was a proud graduate of Karns High School in
Knoxville, Tennessee, Class of 1975. Following graduation, he pursued further
studies at Freed-Hardeman University. In 1977, Bruce joined the United States
Air Force, where he faithfully served his country and rose to the rank of
Sergeant. His military career took him to several duty stations, including
Lakenheath, England; Grand Forks, North Dakota; and Wright-Patterson Air Force
Base in Ohio.
In 1979, Bruce married Rebecca Susan Huber of Knoxville,
Tennessee. In 1982, they added to their family with the birth of
their son, Bruce Edward Jansen II.
After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in
1986, Bruce moved with his family to Elkmont, Alabama. He began a career with
the United States Postal Service in Huntsville, where he worked diligently and
advanced into management, eventually serving as a postmaster.
After the loss of his beloved first wife, Rebecca, in
January of 1998, Bruce later found love again and married Michelle Vandergrift
Jansen in June 2017.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and
Nancy Jansen, and by his first wife, Rebecca Jansen.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Vandergrift
Jansen; son, Bruce Jansen II; stepson, Michael Terry; brothers, Jeff
Jansen and his wife Laurie, and Donny Jansen; his sisters, Cathy Stokes and
Deanna Kershner and her husband Bernie; and his special daughter, Carol
Chehade, and numerous nieces and nephews who all remember him with great
love.
