Thula Mae Batts age 90 of Athens died Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at her residence. Mrs. Batts was born June 13, 1928 in Limestone County, she was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church. Graveside services will be 11 am Friday at Poplar Creek Cemetery with Andy John King officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9 am until 10:30 am at Spry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be, Jeff Bridges, Rick Bridges, John Christopher Batts, Jason Black, Chaze Estes, Brody Black, and Scott Black. Survivors include her Husband of seventy two years Thomas Norman Batts of Athens. Sons, John T. (Jack) Batts and wife Beth of Athens. Jerry Batts and wife Marilyn of Athens. Grandchildren, Allison Batts of Auburn, Alabama. John Christopher Batts and wife Leslie of Athens. Lauren Batts McCracken and husband Will of Fort Collins, Colorado. Great Grandson. Finn McCracken. Sister, Sarah Mitchell and her Husband the late Wayne Mitchell. Brother, Roger Black and wife Mary Dell of Athens. Several Nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by, Parents, Emmette and Leona Black. Brothers, Johnny Black, Spencer Black, and Sister, Lois Bridges. The family request memorials be made to, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Hospice of Limestone County, or The Baptist Childrens Home in Decatur. |
