Irene Virginia Hardaway, 97 of Athens, Alabama, died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Athens Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Hardaway was born December 20, 1922 in Limestone County, she was a member of Enon Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.
Services will be 1PM Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Kelley and Derril Robertson officiating, burial in Sandlin Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9pm Tuesday at Spry Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Troy Hardaway, Mark Robertson, Eddie Robertson, Nick Thompson, Cody Thompson and Darren Sharpe. Honorary Pallbearer is Scotty Hardaway. Survivors: Sons, V. J. Hardaway of Athens and Lawrence Hardaway of Athens; Six Grandchildren, Thirteen Great Grandchildren, Six Great Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by: Husband, Donald Hardaway; Daughter, Mauvoline Hardaway.

Some of my most favorite childhood memories are the times I spent at Uncle Larry's and Aunt Shirley's house with my cousins, Rhonda and Michael. I will forever hold these memories in my heart! My heart is breaking now for my extended family as they lay their precious Mother to rest. My heartfelt prayers go out to you all, and I pray that God wraps you in His arms to help you find comfort and peace in Him, our Lord and Savior.
